"This is what the Lord says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, and ask where the good way is, and walk in it. You will find rest for your soul."
Jeremiah 6:16 NIV
"The Old Ideals"
With all the new inventions today in science and industry, is there any old thing still worth having?
As the old continues to be swallowed up by the new, some would argue that the old ways, and thoughts and sayings should be put away forever. But so much of the old is still very true and necessary.
Listen to what poor Richard’s Almanac was saying well over 200 years ago.
“Well done is better than well said”.
“People who are wrapped up in themselves make very small packages”.
How about this one. “If a man could have just half his wishes, he would double his troubles”.
And this one, “Laziness travels so slowly, that poverty soon over takes him”.
No, the truth is this. The further we travel from the old ideals the bigger our nation’s troubles grow.
