"This is what the Lord says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, and ask where the good way is, and walk in it. You will find rest for your soul."
Jeremiah 6:16 NIV
"The Most Famous American Speech"
There have been some powerful speeches in our American history, but which is the most powerful.
Which speech in our American history stands alone as the most powerful? John Kennedy’s “Ask Not” speech, Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream?” I have studied them all and my choice is by far Abraham Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address”.
Why? Read it for yourself. Look at the words and you’ll see how eloquent, how emotional, how true. And all of that in less than 300 words, a two minute speech written on a few simple note cards.
By the way, the most powerful two words in the speech? Two he added at the last minute –“Under God”. Folks, our nation’s very future and existence is only secure if we remain “One nation under God”. I’m Jerry Stewart and that was “One Moment in America”.
