"This is what the Lord says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, and ask where the good way is, and walk in it. You will find rest for your soul."
Jeremiah 6:16 NIV

"Why Do We Sing It?"

americathebeautiful_01By Jerry Stewart - Vision Productions     It was Katherine Bates who wrote the song" America the Beautiful."   We all know it but why do we sing it?

In the summer of 1893, teacher, lecturer Katherine Bates was asked to speak at a college in Colorado Springs.  Along the way she found herself on top of Pike's Peak, looking out on the unbelievable beauty of America, and the words began to flow.

"Oh beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain.  For purple mountains majesty, above the fruited plain.  America, America, God shed His grace on thee.  And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea."

Why do we sing this song?  Because it's so very true.  We have been blessed with the most beautiful nation in the world.  Today, take a moment and thank God for America.
