"This is what the Lord says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, and ask where the good way is, and walk in it. You will find rest for your soul."

Do We Really Want God's Help?

Once there was a man traveling on a dangerous mountain road who lost control of his car causing his car to plunge over the side of the mountain and crash onto the rocks below, but the man was saved. The only thing between him and certain death was a tiny bush he clung to on the side of the cliff. "Heelllp", he cried out, "somebody...heelllp me". But no one heard. He called out for what seemed like hours for somebody, anybody to save him, but no one came. Finally, as a last resort he said, "Lord, are you there, can you help me?" Out of the darkness came God's voice. "Yes, I can help you, just let go of the rope". "What?", the man said, "what did you say?" He was sure he had heard the Lord wrong. The Lord spoke again, "I can help you, just let go of the rope." The man peered down below, into the darkness, thought about what God had said, then he cried out, "Heelllp, can somebody heelllp me?" The Bible says there is a way which seems right to man, but this way leads us to destruction. How often do we ask God for an answer to a perplexing problem, a situation, and when He provides that answer - we think about it - and refuse - instead taking our own way - to destruction? Do we really want God's help?
