The Things We've Forgotten

One Man's Opinion

Once there was a man who felt so strongly about an issue that he decided to make a sign and carry it up and down a busy street during rush hour for all to see.

At first, people watched. They stopped and read his message, some even agreed, some even walked with him.

But, after a time, as the man continued his daily vigil, people no longer stopped to read or comment. In fact, most became so accustomed to his presence, they didn't even notice he was there.

Then, one day, as he carried his sign, a bystander stopped and asked, "Why do you take the time every day to carry your sign? No one cares, no one even remembers."

The man's reply was simply this, "Although I originally carried this sign for you and the others to read and, hopefully, to remember. Now, I carry this sign, this message, so that I - won't forget".

This is where we are today as a Christian nation. We have forgotten those things that were vital to our walk only a few short years ago. We have forgotten that wrong is still wrong - and that right is still right. And, that God's Word never changes.
